It's About That Time Again! Let's Cleanse…

Hi Foodies, Yogis, Fellow Potential Cleansers!
Spring is in the air and the beach is around the corner! Let’s kick the last of our holiday related bad habits and leftovers (seriously, some of our holiday indulgences are still stored in your fat cells and stuck in your digestive tract. ick). Today myself and three beautiful yogis and great friends that I teach with are embarking on a 3 week whole, clean eating cleanse followed by a reintroduction week (where we test how our clean bodies react to foods we’ve been avoiding i.e. soy, dairy, gluten, corn, etc), with three days of system rest by juicing (and eating strictly watery fruits and veggies if necessary).

Here’s the deal on what we’re not eating: soy, dairy, gluten, corn, red meat, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, sugars, processed foods, excess sodium, stimulants, soda (seriously, let’s ditch this entirely), peanuts, and white rice. Boo, how are we supposed to do that?!?

Here’s how: honoring ourselves and our bodies by putting only high quality, loving food into our systems; discovering the true deliciousness of foods that serve our minds and hearts. Spicing up our foods and our lives 🙂

What I’m eating today:
Breakfast – rice flour toast with raw, unsalted almond butter, ACV tea (hot water, apple cider vinegar, honey)
WATER
Snack – walnuts
WATER
Lunch – frozen grapes, more walnuts, salad with just oil and vinegar
WATER
Dinner idea- see below
WATER

Cleanse Approved Tacos
Ingredients:
8-10 asparagus stalks, woody ends removed and cut in 1 inch pieces
8-10 crimini mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
Lettuce leaves – whole
Cabbage
Avocado
Salsa of choice
Spices: pepper, cumin, thyme, cayenne or Mexican hot spice, garlic powder, onion powder
Diced fresh onion to taste
Brown rice and/or black beans, totally optional as your tacos may get quite full…

Preparation:
1) Sautée veggies in olive oil, add spices or roast veggies coated in olive oil and spices at 400 for 12 ish minutes
2) build taco! Lettuce leaf, cabbage, salsa, veggies, avocado or homemade guac, diced onions, etc
3) dig in and think to yourself, “hot damn, I’m cleansing right now”

Please ignore the corn tortillas in the picture below… It’s from last week!!
